The Decision Phase

Each phase may take from a few hours to several months - depending on the scale of the project. However, every project should be planned to include the steps described here to ensure the successful delivery of a quality product, within budget and to the time scale specified.

The decision phase usually takes the longest period as each idea fights for budget. This however is the most critical phase, as a lack of clear project objectives is the downfall of many IT developments. No project should be initiated without a clear statement of objectives which, where appropriate, can be measured and evaluated as the project develops - ensuring that the investment is well spent.
